Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas/File Photo. Microsoft Corp co-founder Paul Allen, the man who persuaded school-friend Bill Gates to drop out of Harvard to start what became the world’s biggest software company, died on Monday at the age of 65, his family said. Allen left Microsoft in 1983, before the company became a corporate juggernaut, following a dispute with Gates, but his share of their original partnership allowed him to spend the rest of his life and billions of dollars on yachts, art, rock music, sports teams, brain research and real estate. Allen died from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer, the Allen family said in a statement. Fela Durotoye, a 2019 presidential aspirant, has reacted to a controversial statement credited to President Muhmmadu Buhari on Nigerian youths.
Buhari had while delivering a keynote address at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London said that most Nigerian youths want everything free without doing anything.
He was quoted saying “More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education for free.”
Reacting to the statement which has caused reactions and backlash, Durotoye in a statement on his social media page said real leaders created opportunities, believed in youths rather than blame them.
According to him, Buhari’s statement was enough reason why he should be voted out in 2019.
His statement read “TRUTH is if you don’t see the best in people, you cannot bring out the best in them.
“The Nigerian youth I know are born with wings, we just need real LEADERSHIP that believes in us to release us from this ‘CAGE’ and we will SOAR like eagles.
“Real leaders create opportunities for the young people and then encourage, enlighten & empower the young people to seize those opportunities.
“Sadly, more than 20million school age children & youth are out of school every year but you can’t fail to put them in school & then blame them for not going to school.
“Real leaders ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. Well this is just another reason why you must GET YOUR PVC against all the obstacles they throw in your way.
“Get your PVC and in 2019, choose those who believe in you… End of discussion.”

Curtailing National Assembly’s dictatorial tendency

Published  April 20, 2018 Bukola Ajisola, Victoria Island, Lagos State, bukymany@yahoo.com: The National Assembly comprising the Senate and the House of Representatives, constitutionally empowered to make laws and perform oversight functions, is gradually morphing into a dictatorial Frankenstein where members are gagged on rhetorical and omnibus House Rules. While no one should begrudge the two chambers for enforcing rules to guide parliamentary ethics in legislative business, the bias and tendentious application of such rules to members as the nation has witnessed lately is not only reprehensible but also exposes the underbelly of the heads of the two chambers as emperors with primordial missions to accomplish outside the extant legislative templates. This skewed legislative praxis is more pronounced in the Senate where the chamber has been partitioned into either pro-Saraki or pro-Buhari elements. Any infraction from the pro-Saraki bloc seems...

THE POWER OF HUMAN MIND

By Eric D. Nnaji T he human mind is like the eyes of the real person inside every human being, it can create different types of image in just a second, it is really what defines humans the big question is  what type of image do you as an individual allow to spend more than one second in the mind.   Therefore, humans get to chose who they really are by the type of image that stays longer in their mind (good or bad). 1. Do you know: Gossip   In order for a man to gossip you think negatively, not only that; you will have this negative memory and will have to it with other people. The bad thing with this is that the second you have a negative thought in your mind the biochemistry of your brain changes unlashing  cortisol  which is a stress hormone unlashing into the blood, which tends to weaken the immune system and limits the action of the white blood cells and increases the changes of infection and even promotes weight gain; all this from the hu...
